It is with sadness we announce the passing of, Cynthia ‘Cindy’ Diane (Grant) Hanna on Monday, January 7, 2019, at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital, New Waterford, surrounded by her loving family.
Cindy was born in Whitney Pier on June 6, 1942 to the late Albert and Gladys (Hefford) Grant.
Cindy will be sadly missed by daughter, Diane (Shannon) O’Brien and their children, Christopher (Alish), Connor and Liam, Halifax; son, David Hanna and his daughters, Stacey and Stephanie, both from Mississauga, Ontario; long-time partner, Ron White, Sydney; sisters, Eleanor Grant and Donna Lou Eddy, both from Sydney; brother, Gary Grant, Norwich, Ontario; father of her children, Billy Hanna; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents, Cindy was predeceased by her brother, John (Mary Lou) Grant.
Cindy was a stay at home Mom before returning to work at the Isle Royal Motel and continuing at Cape Breton Regional Hospital until her retirement. She had great sense of humour which was evident by her many disguises at Halloween and dressing up as Mrs Clause for hospital staff parties. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Visitation and memorial service to celebrate the life of Cindy Hanna will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) on Friday, January 11, 2019. A gathering of family and friends will take place from noon – 1:30 p.m. with the memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. in the All Faith Chapel with Major Corey Vincent officiating. Light refreshments will be served in the reception area following the service.
Private family Interment will take place in Hardwood Hill Cemetery at a later date.
Donations in memory of Cindy may be made to the Alzheimer Society or the charity of one’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
