It is with profound sadness that the family of Josephine “Beth” Elizabeth LeCouter announce her passing at the An Cala Cancer Unit, Cape Breton Regional Hospital on October 30, 2009 surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Sydney, Beth was the loving daughter of the late Philip and Bertha (Robertson) MacPherson.
Beth was a member of the Trinity United Church, Whitney Pier. At the age of 18, Beth started her career at the old City Hospital in the clinical chemistry department and was employed for more than 30 years and retired from the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Beth was a cancer survivor for many years, enjoying life to the fullest. She loved day trips, local adventures within her homeland, Cape Breton. Beth touched the lives of so many people throughout the years. The people who knew her loved her for her generosity, optimism and devotion to family and friends. She will also be remembered for her baking and always having a warm heart for children.
She will be dearly missed by her husband, Melvin after celebrating 42 years of marriage, Sept. 2009; daughter, Jennifer; two sons, Mark and Peter. She will always be treasured by her four grandchildren, Matthew, Ainsley, Morgan and Ben.
Funeral service for the late Beth LeCouter will be celebrated at the Trinity United Church, Whitney Pier, on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Maggie Coleman officiating. Reception will follow at the family home. Interment will take place privately by the family at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Beth’s memory may be made to An Cala unit of Cape Breton Regional Hospital or the Cape Breton Cancer Unit.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of the Pier Community Funeral Home.
At this time, the LeCouter family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all the staff at the palliative care unit, Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their professional and tender care of Beth in her time of need.
