The family of Gordon MacArthur regret to announce his passing on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax.

Born in North Sydney on July 5, 1967, Gordon was the son of Cecil and Sheila MacArthur.

Besides his parents, Gord is survived by his sisters, Krista MacArthur (Bruce) and Karen MacNeil (Darren); brother, Jason MacArthur; children, Laura, Sarah and Aaron; nieces and nephews, Rebecca, Julia, Ryan, Zachary, Grace and Connell; great-nephews, Isaac and Thomas; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Gord is predeceased by his grandparents, Hedley and Pearl Mullins and Lester and Alene MacArthur.

Gord will be missed by good friends, Chris, Trevor, Jason, Dave, Tanner, Paul and Greg.

Gord could fix/do anything, for he was a perfectionist. He always spoke his mind and could also be a little short with people who didn’t match his standards. Gord was a long-time employee of Cormack Builders and was the “go-to” guy for any questions or concerns. He loved camping, Tim Hortons coffee, watching the Habs and enjoyed good candy or chocolate.

The family would like to thank Dr. David Brake, Dr. Robert Hodson and the staff of 4B of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. The family would also like to thank Dr. Daniel French and the staff of 5B, 6B and particularly the ICU of the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax for the care given to Gordon in his time of need.

Visitation and memorial service to celebrate the life of Gordon MacArthur will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church St.), Whitney Pier on Wednesday, April 23, 2025. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. with the memorial service to follow at 4 p.m. in the All Faith Chapel with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating. A private family interment will take place at a later date.

Donations in memory of Gord may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.

Online condolences can be forwarded to the family at www.pierfuneralhome.com.
