The family of James Hector Brown regret to announce his sudden passing on Friday, January 31, 2025, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born October 3, 1957, in Glace Bay, Jimmy was the son of the late Daniel and Shirley (Parsons) Brown.
Jimmy is survived by his three children, Mary Ann (Donald), Barry (Crystal) and James; two grandchildren, Jessica, and Abby Brown; fiancée, Pattilynn MacKinnon and her daughter Hannah; brothers, Danny (Anita) and Bradley (Suzanne); sisters, Danette, Shirley, and Lisa (Jamie), as well as many nieces and nephews. Jimmy is also survived by the mother of his children, Donna Vatcher and the Vatcher family.
Besides his parents, Jimmy was predeceased by his sister, Georgina and niece, Lisa.
Jim worked for 40 years at Regional Housing, where he had many friends.
Jimmy cherished every moment he spent with his grandchildren who meant the world to him. He could often be found at Tim Hortons enjoying a coffee with his best friend, Todd Marsman and spending time with the MacKinnon family on the Northside.
Gathering of family and friends to celebrate the life of James Brown will be held at the Pier Community Funeral Home, Whitney Pier, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) from 2:30-4:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2025.
Donations in memory of James may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Kidney Foundation.

I worked with Jim for many years at Island Housing…had a lot of fun and laughs and managed to get some work done too…he will be missed…condolences to the family…RIP Jim
