It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edward ‘Eddie’ Medora, who left this world peacefully on Saturday, October 12, 2024.
Born on October 9, 1927, in Whitney Pier, Eddie was the son of the late Peter and Angela (Bruno) Medora. Eddie proudly spent 42 years working in the rail mill at the steel plant in Sydney, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic. Eddie made lasting friendships with his colleagues and took pride in being part of the community’s industrial history.
Eddie is survived by his daughter, Susan Bryden (Leo Larade); grandchildren, Philippa Bryden (Marc Katryk) and Remington Bryden; sister-in-law, Jean Madore, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Eddie was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Helen ‘Lallie’ Medora (nee Manley); siblings, Freddie (Sadie), Dr. Patrick, Dr. Mike (Pauline), Josephine, Theresa ‘Dolly’ (Tommy McKinnon), Gloria (Roy) and Donald.
Visitation and memorial service to celebrate the life of Edward Medora will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church St.), Whitney Pier on Monday, October 21, 2024. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 1 to 2 p.m. with the memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. in the All Faith Chapel with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Interment will take place in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks at later a date.

Ed, you have lived a long industrious life. You have amazed us with your incredible work ethic and how it extended into very late in your life. Now it is finally time to rest. You are the last of your siblings while one of the youngest. Rest in peace, you have earned it!
