Sydney

With heavy hearts we, the family, announce the passing of Normie Bona on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at Hospice Cape Breton, with her family by her side, a loving and vibrant soul that left us broken-hearted.

Normie Bona was born on July 12, 1939, and she lived a life filled with joy, love and adventure. She dedicated many years to her work at the Isle Royal Motel.

In her retirement, Normie cherished spending time with her loved ones, particularly her daughter, with whom she shared a passion for playing darts and cards. She was an avid member of two darts leagues, where she formed countless cherished friendships over the years. Her family, especially her grandbabies, held a real special place in her heart, bringing immense joy and fulfillment to her life.

Normie loved dancing and had a passion for it that brought her great happiness.

Besides her parents, Normie was predeceased by her loving husband, Danny Bona, and her siblings, Pearl, Margie, Gerdie and Murdock.

Normie will be deeply missed by her daughter, Ada Ann (Willard); granddaughter, Glenda; great-granddaughters, Brittany (Mitch), Maddison (Josh) and Dallas (Colby); great-great-grandchildren, Emerson, Vayda Ann Normina, and Mason. She also shared a special bond with Dougie MacEachern and her nephew, Danny MacAskill. Normie is survived by her sister, Cathy (Fred) Roberts, Toronto.

Rest in peace, dear Normie.

Visitation for the late Normie Bona will be held at the Pier Community Funeral Home, Whitney Pier, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, September 12, 2024. A celebration of Normie’s life will be held in the funeral home in the All Faith Chapel on Friday, September 13, 2024, at 3:30 p.m. with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating.
