Whitney Pier
Judith Hope (Mingarelli) Crane, age 88, of Whitney Pier, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at Glace Bay’s Seaview Manor with her sister, Mabel Rice at her side, holding her hand.
Born in Whitney Pier, Judith was the daughter of the late Syvester ‘Sylvie’ and Cassie (MacIntosh) Mingarelli. She grew up in Whitney Pier and worked at Canada Packers and Sobeys in her youth. She then went back to work in her later years and worked at Master Meats before her retirement.
Judith is survived by her son, Art (Eileen) Crane, daughter, Gina (Bruce) Wilson and son, Lindsey (Yuko) Crane; grandchildren, Morgan (Donovan) Kennedy, Daniel Crane, Liam (Ashley) Crane, Abbie Crane, Brandon (Alaina) Sears, Garrett (Tara) Sears, Kenzie (Cherry) Hill, Nathan, Sarah (Duncan), and Chloe Wilson, Koki, Yuki, and Miku Crane; one great-grandson, Casey Sears; sister, Mabel Rice; stepdaughter, Gina (Jim) Spagnolatti; as well as many nieces and nephews and their families.
Besides her parents, Judith was predeceased by her husband, Joesph Crane and her common-law partner, Gino Spagnolatti; daughter, Kimmey Crane; sisters, Marion Willis, Diana Townsend, Tillie MacLeod, Elsie MacKenzie, Maxine Serynik, and brothers, Charles, Danny, and Henry Mingarelli.
Mom was at her at her happiest when she was a homemaker raising her family, and cooking and baking. She was renowned for her spaghetti sauce and used to sell it out of her home. She continued to cook and bake even after she had a stroke and ended up in a wheelchair. She was extremely lucky to raise her family among her sisters who all stayed in the area. The Mingarelli sisters had a bond that could not be broken. Her sense of humor and gratitude carried her through her most challenging times.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for the superb care and kindness shown to Judith by everyone at Seaview manor during her stay there. A special thanks to the care and comfort shown by Karen Andrea Crooker, Neice, Sharon MacIntyre and her sister Mabel Rice during her illness. It was very much appreciated.
Visitation for the late Judith Crane will be held at the Pier Community Funeral Home, Whitney Pier, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) from 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17, 2024. Gina and all the family… We have been thinking of you all week.
Judy had a long run and grew up in a different era when times
were not always easy for many people.
It sounds like she had a full life however and thankfully a peaceful end.
Thinking of Kimmey at this time too.
