Louisbourg
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Elizabeth Barton Hall on Monday, July 1, 2024, age 83, Sydney.
Liz was born and raised in Sydney Mines. After the death of her grandparents, who raised her, Liz moved to Sydney for work. It was here that she met her first husband, Donald Wowk. Like many Cape Bretoners, Liz and Donald moved to Toronto for better job opportunities. In the 1980’s they returned to Cape Breton and settled in Catalone where Liz operated a bed and breakfast.
Later in life, Liz moved to Louisbourg with her second husband, John Hall. She enjoyed being active in her community and was a member of the Catalone Recreation Centre and the Louisbourg Association of Women. Liz volunteered at Louisbourg Food Bank and the Louisbourg Legion. She loved painting, doing crafts, reading and enjoyed keeping in touch with her many friends daily by phone. Liz will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Memorial service to celebrate the life of Elizabeth Hall will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church St.), Whitney Pier on Sunday, July 7, 2024, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating.
Donations in memory of Liz may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
