Sydney
It is with heavy hearts that we, the family announce the sudden passing of our father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, Gary Gray, known to most as ‘Zeke’, on Sunday, June 30, 2024, in Sydney, at the age of 64.
Born and raised in Sydney, Gary was the son of the late Earl ‘Curly’ and Muriel (Parish) Gray.
Gary was a lifelong Maple Leafs fan, always hoping that “this might be their year”. Gary was retired from the Canadian Coast Guard College, where he worked in the galley and then in stores.
Gary is survived by his son, Gary (Katie), Alberta; daughter, Jillian (Steven); grandson, Parker; and Steven’s daughter, Tessa, Sydney Mines; brother, Glen (Joan), North Sydney and sister, Dianne Bussey.
Besides his parents, Gary was predeceased by his brother, Dave and brother-in-law, Bill Bussey.
Visitation and memorial service to celebrate the life of Gary Gray will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church St.), Whitney Pier on Saturday, July 6, 2024. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. with the memorial service to follow at 12 noon in the All Faith Chapel with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating. Private family interment will take place in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
Friends who wish to do something in memory of Gary may donate to a charity of one’s choice, or simply do a kind deed for someone.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
