The family of Michael Ostafichuk, regret to announce his passing on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at home in Whitney Pier.

Born on May 19, 1942, in Sydney, Michael was the son of the late John and Annie (Sauchuk) Ostafichuk.

Michael is survived by daughter, Annie (Ray) Foley; sons, Michael Jr. and Johnny (Tracey); grandchildren, Stacey Ostafichuk (Adam), Jessica Foley (Mitchell), Amanda Ostafichuk (Justin), Patricia (Kyle) Struck, Amber Ostafichuk, James Foley (Brett), Tiffany Ostafichuk (Tyler), Adam Ostafichuk, Riley McCune, and Hailey Ostafichuk; great-grandchildren, Lexa, Cohen, Bryce, Jayce, Royce, Layla, Gage, Rory, and Paisley; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Michael was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife, Violet (Walker) Ostafichuk, and sisters, Mary and Catherine.

Michael worked his career at Sydney Steel and loved listening to and watching old country music and shows. He also loved hunting and fishing in his younger years. However, his biggest love was to be entertained by Layla, who put the biggest smiles on his face up to his last days.

As per Michael’s request there will be no visitation or service at this time.

Donations in memory of Michael may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
