Westmount
It is with great sadness that we, the family announce the sudden passing of Billy Macintosh on Monday, June 10, 2024, at the age of 74.
Born on April 5,1950, Billy was a son of the late Murdock and Hattie (Daisley) MacIntosh.
Billy lived in Edwardsville and worked at Kmart for a number of years, after which his love of buying celebration cards and caring for his chickens really blossomed. He later resided in Westmount where his daily routine of visiting the Sydney River stores included purchase of birthday cards and gifts, which he delivered to family and friends. Billy’s unique ability to remember birthdays continued for generations. It wasn’t unusual to wake up to balloons on the mailbox or Billy at the door with a special card or gift. He really had a love for children and a great interest in their education.
Billy’s faith was strong, as was evidenced by his regular attendance at Mass at Holy Rosary Church, Westmount. Being a beloved member of the community, he will be missed by all that knew him.
Besides his parents, Billy was predeceased by all his siblings, Bedford, Susan, Sadie, Jeanette, Shirley and Lambert.
Billy is survived by brothers-in-law, Alex MacInnis, and Lonnie Wells; sister in-law, Paulette MacIntosh; as well as several nieces, nephews, their children and grandchildren.
Special thank you to the VON staff and the community support services for all their care and patience to enable Billy’s independence.
Heartfelt thank you to a special friend, Lloyd who was always there for him; to Tracy and family for their love and support and to Normena, for the kind chats and companionship.
On behalf of the family, a big thank you to all who took the time to pick him up and watch out for him.
Memorial Mass to celebrate the life of Billy MacIntosh will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at 11 a.m. in Holy Rosary Parish, Westmount, with Fr. Douglas Murphy officiating. Interment will take place in Church of Incarnation Cemetery, Edwardsville, with a reception to follow at the WINS Community Hall, Edwardsville.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Pier Community Funeral Home.
Online condolences can be forwarded to the family at www.pierfuneralhome.com
We hope his kindness has a lasting impact on his many friends who helped him along his way.

Dear Family of Billy,
we are new to Frenchvale but we have had the opportunity to pick up Billy and enjoy a chat. We actually drove him to Sobeys June 10th on my way to a 9am appointment, he seemed fine, so we are shocked at his passing.
I will miss seeing him walking to check on his chickens as I travelled to work each day.

Bill was such a sweet, caring man and I had the pleasure of knowing him for many years. He truely cared about people and always inquired about what you were going to do with your time off, what the kids were doing with their summer, birthdays, holidays… he was a true gem. If everyone had a heart like Bill’s, the world would be a much better place. My deepest sympathy to the family. May he rest in peace 🙏

A prince of a man, always smiling and happy to see you! He will be missed by many that he brought so much happiness to! Rest now Billy in Our Lord’s wings!
Bill was my morning companion on many drives to work, our regular Tim’s visit with a plain donut and chocolate milk for him. Our daily conversations about his chickens..until it was down to only 1 chicken..he remembered all my grandkids birthdays with dollar store treats and more recently helped me celebrate my 40th work anniversary with the best card and cookies..he spoke fondly of Evvy Moulins, Mr and Mrs Newell, and anyone he remembered from his past. On the morning he died our conversation oddly wad about how he was the only immediate family member left and wondered what, if anything, would be done for him in the event of his death..I told him to not talk so foolish. I’m so grateful for the care and concern shown to this kind and generous soul. If this world had more “Bill”s in it, what a greater world it would be. Rest in peace my friend..I hope you are reunited with your loved ones and that there’s lots of chickens to feed in heaven. I will miss you😘
Love Debbie xoxo
