It is with heavy hearts that we, the family announce the passing of our loving husband, father and grandfather, Michael Daniel MacLean on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at the age of 66, in the Au Cala Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born on November 4, 1957, Michael was a son of the late Michael and Shirley (MacLellan) MacLean.
Michael was the loving husband to wife, Beverley; father to Michael (Brittany), Andrew (Amy), and the proud grandpa of five grandsons, Michael, Ben, Brady, Jace, and Alec.
Michael is survived by his brothers, Richard, John and Jim; sisters, Theresa (Scott), Karen, and Leisa; brothers-in-law, Reg (Judy), George (Marion), and Donnie, sisters-in-law, Darlene (Murray), Rose (Donnie); as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Michael was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Victoria Hutchings, and sister-in-law, Mabel Hutchings.
Michael was employed for many years at Scotia Wholesale. He then worked as a Sales Rep for Sysco, M&S Food Services, and later retired due to illness from Ideal Foods.
Michael was a member of the Albert Bridge Fire department for 25 years, serving as Treasurer and Fire Chief. He truly loved serving his community in these roles and was able to build many wonderful friendships.
In his younger years, Michael enjoyed snowmobiling, riding his ATV, fishing, scuba diving, traveling with friends, and he was an avid Montreal Canadiens fan.

We are so sorry to hear of Mike’s passing, sending our condolences to Bev and family….
Bev and family, our deepest sympathy and condolences on the loss of Mike. He will be missed, however he left a legacy of good memories.
Many a fun time at the hall, whether we were working a function or attending one. Mike was a dedicated treasurer for many years prior to being Chief. I am proud to call him not just a fellow firefighter colleague, but also a friend. The community, and especially his family, have lost a great gentleman.
No more pain for those we lose as that pain is transferred to those who are left on Earth and loved him. Grief is love that has nowhere to go.
Rest easy Mike and may God bless Bev, Michael, Andrew and family.
Sincerely
Keith Pyne
Retired Assistant Chief, Albert Bridge
