The family of Maurice James ‘Dick’ Campbell regret to announce his peaceful passing on Friday, May 17, 2024, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born on March 29, 1933, in Sydney, Dick was the son of the late Maurice Leander and Sarah (Reid) Campbell.
Some of Dick’s favourite things were reading, puzzles, and crosswords. He loved the sea, and music, especially old country and traditional Scottish music.
Dick is survived by his sons, William Joseph, Maurice Ross and Brendon Patrick; daughter, Mary Elizabeth; brother, Edward and sisters, Suzanne and Juanita.
Besides his parents, Dick was predeceased by his wife, Mary Margaret (Smith) Campbell; daughter, Carolyn; sister, Elizabeth, and brothers, Sears, Billy, and Dan.
As per Dick’s request, there will be no visitation or service at this time.
Donations in memory of Dick may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
