Its with heavy hearts that we, the family announce the sudden passing of our beloved father, Michael Joseph Corbett ‘GOBBLER’ on April 10, 2024, at the Harbourstone Enhanced Care at the age of 81.
Born on August 15, 1942, and raised in Sydney, Whitney Pier, Michael was a son to the late Leo Corbett and Gladys Mombourquette.
Michael was married to the late Celina Gill for 39 years before her passing, whom he adored very much. He had 5 children, Karen (Rocky), Michael (Trina), Dookie (Corey), Michelle (Jimmy), Jason, Sydney, Whitney Pier. Michael also had many brothers & sisters, whom he loved dearly. As well as 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Michael spent most of his time working at the Cape Breton Regional Municipality and retired after 28 years. He also loved his job at first class delivery, he was with them for 11 years and loved every minute of it. Dad loved going to the horse races and playing a good game of tarbish in his spare time. He also watched a lot of wrestling and little house on the prairie.
The family would like to thank the staff at Harbourstone Guest Home, soldiers cove, for the care our father received. A big thank you to his two favourite CCAS, Tracey and Shauna.
Dad you will be missed deeply by all that knew and loved you, especially your kids.
You are now reunited with your beloved wife, Celina and grandson, Christopher. We love you dad.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or service at this time.
Donations in memory of Michael may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.

Gobbler was a coworker and great friend of my late husband Tom( Tucker).. I also knew him as a young fellow as a friend of my brother at Holy Redeemer Camp .around the Pier.. sincere sympathy and prayers to all his family during this sad time 🙏
