It is with profound sadness that we, the family, announce the death of Walter ‘Wally’ Gregory Crawley, age 58, on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, with his loving wife and sons by his side.
Born on February 7, 1966, in Halifax, Wally was a son of Walter and the late Ethel (Gerrior) Crawley.
Wally worked alongside his father for many years at Modern Aluminum. He was a very talented carpenter who, when he put his mind to it, could build anything. Wally returned to school later in life, earning his BACS degree at CBU.
Wally loved nothing more than loading up the trailer and heading to the campground with his family and fur babies, Lola and Braxton. Wally also loved to spend time in his man cave, cranking his favorite tunes and cheering his favorite Boston teams. Wally spent many years as a coach for the Sydney Steelers and was so proud to have coached both of his boys.
Besides his father, Wally is survived by his wife of 28 years, Kimberley (Dean) Crawley; sons, Colton, and Kyle; granddaughter, Aleena; mother-in-law, Betty Dean; sister and brother-in-law by choice, Tara and Kenny Hann; aunt, Thelma ‘Aunt Do’; uncle, Jim, and special friend, Seliena King.
Besides his mother, Wally was predeceased by his brothers, Scott and Monty and father-in-law, Frank Dean.
The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Halifax Infirmary, as well as the staff of 4A at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, who always went above and beyond in their care for Wally in his time of need. We would also like to thank everyone for their support and condolences during this difficult time.
As per Wally’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service.
Donations in memory of Walter may be made to The Canadian Diabetes Association.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
