It is with immeasurable sadness that we, the family of Bonney Lynn Murphy, are compelled to announce her sudden and unexpected passing on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, in Sydney, at the age of 60.
Born on September 11, 1963, in North Sydney, Bonney was a daughter of Shirley (Taylor) Rose and the late Ronald Rose.
In her short time, Bonney was employed in various places including the Gaelic College and Scotsburn Dairy. She retired as a tractor trailer driver then worked in the dairy where she made many friends. She enjoyed camping, a good laugh, and loved her beer. She danced to the beat of her own drum. Bonney will be missed by all who knew her.
Bonney is survived by her husband, Matthew Murphy, Whitney Pier; mother, Shirley Rose; daughter, Mary Lynn MacPherson (J.C.) and their children, Brayden, Nevaeh and Maliyah. Bonney will be thought of fondly and dearly missed by her siblings, Donna (James) Foster, Suzanne (Guy) Cox, Sydney Mines, Gary (Janette) Rose, Airdrie, AB, Paul (Karen) Rose, Miramichi, NB; sisters-in-law, Theresa, Mira, and Alana Murphy, Montreal, QC; brother-in-law, Bill Murphy, Halifax; as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Besides her father, Bonney was predeceased by her sister, Faye (Winston) Matheson; niece, Emily Fells; nephew, Daniel Foster; brother-in-law, Greg Murphy; paternal grandparents, Arthur and Clara (Pieroway) Rose and maternal grandparents, Charles and Jessie (Coffin) Taylor.
Visitation and memorial service to celebrate the life of Bonney Murphy will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church St.), Whitney Pier on Tuesday, October 17, 2023. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. with the memorial service to follow at 3 p.m. in the All Faith Chapel with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating.
Donations in memory of Bonney may be made to a charity of oneโs choice.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.

There were 13 donations made in Bonney’s memory to St. Andrew’s United Church in Miramichi, NB where her brother Paul resides with his wife, Karen, sons Nathan, Jacob, Nick and Mother-in-Law Barbara from their family and friends.
