It is with great sadness that the family of Carol Marie Hawrylak, age 67, announce her peaceful passing on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born on November 1, 1955, in Whitney Pier, Carol was the daughter of the late Alex and Annie Kennedy.
Carol is survived by her husband, Greg; sons, Chris and Tim (Andrea); daughter, Jessica (Dan) Hall; grandchildren, who she loved beyond measure, Sophie, Dylan, Olivia and Benjamin. Carol is also survived by sisters, Louise (the late Leo) Collins, Jean (the late John) Jackson, Delores (Peter) Moran, Helen (Shaun) MacDonald, Rose (Ray) Mombourquette and brother, Joe (Camille).
Besides her parents, Carol was predeceased by sisters, Catherine (the late Kenny) Anderson, Carmella (Paul) LeBlanc, Loretta (Earl) Stone and brother, George.
Born and raised in Whitney Pier, Carol loved music, especially Gaelic songs. She enjoyed being a part of the Holy Redeemer Folk Choir. Her performance at the Johnston Concert gave her great pleasure.
Carol worked at Carefield Manor and found much satisfaction in helping the elderly. The family would like to thank Dr. Glen Worth and his staff for the wonderful care provided to Carol for many years.
In keeping with Carol’s request there will be no visitation or service.
Donations in memory of Carol may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.

I am so sorry to hear of Carol’s passing ,as her dear friend Debbie came right to my mind.I remember how much Debbie would enjoy going to spend time with her as somehow I think they both knew they only had so much time together.The Pier girls are together again,and I can just see how happy they would be to greet each other .I worked with Carol at Carefield,and always will remember how much she loved to sing and our Scottish culture.
