Connie was predeceased by her siblings, Madeleine (Ron) Andrews, Doris (Bart) Corbett, Gordon, Ray, Marina MacKinnon (Joe), Jim, Kathleen Campbell, Lorraine McInnis (Al), Linda MacIsaac (Greg), and Terry (Doris).
Connie was a proud and devout Catholic. She held her Nova Scotia heritage from Whitney Pier close to her heart, reading the Cape Breton Post daily.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to their exceptional neighbours, particularly Steve, in Bible Hill, for their unwavering support and kindness during the past two years.
A special gratitude is extended to the compassionate Palliative Care Team, VON and Home Care providers who provided dedicated care to Connie in her final months. Darryl and I are so very saddened to lose both of our wonderful neighbours so quickly. When Connie and Peter arrived in Truro in August 2020 during the pandemic and thrown directly into a two-week isolation order in effect at that time, they were met by wonderful neighbours who did their best to help them through the 3 weeks before their belongings
actually arrived. Lots of wonderful memories getting to know them from their front veranda from a distance sharing stories and enjoying their quick wit and loving nature.
We miss them terribly and have many fond memories of our too short time with them including the beautiful Christmas music that would sound from their veranda over the holidays from, what we were told, was a decades’ old decoration given to them by a family member that Peter would work hard to get to work each year. The lights no longer worked properly, he said, but the music was heart warming. We loved it!!
Then there was Connie’s salmon pie and the steak and lobster so generously given when a gardening hand of help was offered in their front yard.
Connie and Peter (always Rene to us as that is the way he introduced himself to us), may you both rest peacefully with no more pain. As the Lord said “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Our condolences to all the family. Marcel, Jin and Logan, it has been wonderful getting to know you all. Thank you for all that you did for Connie in her final days.
J’aurais aimé que l’on se revoit tous encore une fois, mais la vie en décidé autrement… Matante Connie and Mononcle René, the only hant and oncle I ever had… Even if you were far, so are my best cousins, 😜 you were in my heart. Rest in peace ❤️❤️❤️ You will always be in my heart!
