We, the family of Edward MacDonald, age 94 of Fourchu, Richmond County, regret to announce his passing on Monday, January 17, 2022, in the palliative care unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born on August 16, 1927, Edward was the son of the late Margaret Ann (Burns) and James Fred MacDonald.
Edward is survived by his brother, Clarence (Willma), Sydney; daughter, Lynette MacVicar, New Waterford; grandchildren, Katie (Andrew) Peddle, Greenwood, Carl (Breanna) and Corey (Stevie Rhea), New Waterford; great-grandchildren, Conner and Abby, Greenwood; favorite nephew, David Whalen, Sydney along with many other nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Eddie was predeceased by his son, Hiliary; brothers, Fred, Henry, Roy and sister, Cassie.
A special thank you to Eddie’s cousin, Robert (Kay) Burns and their son Kevin (Marie) who were always there to lend support. Thank you also to long-time friends, Mildred and Dan Alex MacIntyre of Fourchu for their kindness throughout the years. Our sincere appreciation goes out to the many doctors and nurses at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital who cared for Edward in his final months, along with the St. Peter’s Home Care and the VON who kept him comfortable in his time of need.
Regretfully, due to covid there will be no visitation or service at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Donations in memory of Edward may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.

Sorry to hear of Eddy’s passing, Eddie was my 2 nd cousin. I got to know Eddie again after I started to spend time in Gabarus after my retirement. We got to spend time together each time I was back. I’m happy I was able to do that. My condolences to Eddy’s family during this sad time in their lives.
