The family of Osburn ‘Ozzie’ Scotland Marsman would like to announce that he left to be with his Lord and Saviour on Saturday, March 22, 2025, from Harbourstone Enhanced Care, Sydney.

Born in Hammonds Plains on November 14, 1930, Ozzie was the son of the late Wilbert and Emma (Allison) Marsman. Ozzie arrived in Sydney in his early years to work at Sysco/Sydney Steel Corporation until 1989 when he retired after serving on many positions at the plant, mostly the Coke Ovens Battery.

Ozzie is survived by children, Glenn Morrison, Debbie Morrison, Michael (Marion) Morrison, Cindy (the late Paul Price), Derrick (Margaret) Marsman, Todd (Lillian) Marsman, and special baby girl, Wendy Colleen Marsman; grandchildren, Duane (Elaine) Morrison, Chase Cambridge, Mark (Nadine) Marsman, Jennifer Sheppard, Aaron, Jonathan and Elise Marsman, Todd Jr. (Brittany) MacDonald, Brandon Marsman, Nicholle and Michael Jr. Morrison; great-grandchildren, Madison Marie, and Alexis Hope Marsman, Chloe May Kuba, Jaden, and Jordan Gouthro, Ariah, and Janae Sheppard, Dax and Rylee MacDonald, and Myrah Grace MacEachern; siblings, Lula, Prevoe, Myrtle Marsman, and Delano (Delores) Marsman; in-laws, Art (Rose) Morrison, Rita Morrison, Colleen MacPherson, Ann Cambell; as well as many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and close friends.

Besides his parents, Ozzie was predeceased by his wife, Marie; siblings, Leothra, Alley, Jocelyn, and Cecil; in-laws, Malcolm, Adrian, and Ronnie Morrison, and Lorna Campbell; son-in-law, Paul Price; as well as many extended family members.

Ozzie loved to hunt, fish, and go for daily walks in his spare time. He wore out the floor walking in the hallways at Harbourstone. He also loved card games, Yahtzee, darts, pool, boxing, and bowling. He was very hard to beat in snooker and billiards. Ironically Ozzie passed away on the same day as one of his favourite boxers, George Foreman. Most of all, our father, Ozzie was a very active believer, daily reading and sharing God’s Word always.

The family would like to thank all the nurses and staff of Harbourstone Enhanced Care, Levatte’s Lane and Palliative Care for their care and compassion for Ozzie in his time of need.

Visitation for the late Ozzie Marsman will be held at the Pier Community Funeral Home, Whitney Pier, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. Funeral Service for the late Ozzie Marsman will be held in the funeral home, All Faith Chapel on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Kevin Mattatall officiating. Following the service a reception will be held at the funeral home. Private family interment will take place at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens at a later date.

Donations in memory of Ozzie may be made to Resi-Care Cape Breton or a charity of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
