Main-a-Dieu

It is with the deepest of sorrow and broken hearts we, the family of Kevin Daniel Mailman, regret to announce his passing on Saturday March 29, 2025, at the age of 61, surrounded by his loving family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Halifax on October 12, 1963, Kevin was the son of the late Harvey and Edna Mailman. Shortly after the family moved to Main-a-Dieu.

Kevin enjoyed hunting, fishing, and always a game of cards with friends. He had a love for old cars which he was very happy to show people. His love for the sea was something that he took pride in. Kevin took to the water at a young age and spent years fishing offshore, then proceeded to inshore fishing until his passing.

Kevin was a very good storyteller and enjoyed the fun of poking a joke from time to time. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Kevin leaves to mourn his wife, Nancy; children, Crystal (Emerson), Amanda, Kevin (Amber), and Amber (Kyle); the most precious gift, his grandchildren, Nicholas, Thomas, Madison, Cody, Bryson, Jayce, Liam, Wyatt, and his brother, Ellsworth (Sheri).

Besides his parents, Kevin was predeceased by his sister, Heather.

At his request, Kevin would like to send out a huge and sincere thank you to the palliative care unit and his travel nurses and doctors who made the trip to Main-a-Dieu to make him comfortable. He also wanted to send out a very special thank you to Darrel Hutt, aka Bill, for all he did for Nancy and him over the years and in his time of need. Thanks also to Alfred Stockley, Glen Nichols and Glen Shepard for their help. They brought a lot of laughs and comfort to him, and this is just to mention a few.

Visitation and Funeral Service to celebrate the life of Kevin Mailman will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church St.), Whitney Pier on Friday, April 4, 2025. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with the Funeral Service to follow at 1 p.m. in the All Faith Chapel with Rev. Emily Duggan and Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating. Interment will take place in Loch End Cemetery, Catalone.

Donations in memory of Kevin may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.

Online Condolences

Condolences to Kevin’s family and friends. You are in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. I so enjoyed having Kevin in my class in the Main-a Dieu school. He was a fine young man and very likeable person. RIP Kevin. 🌹 Maureen Mac Leod   From: Maureen Mac Leod
