It is with broken hearts and much gratitude for a life well lived, that we, the family, announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Elmer Augustus Ranni, who left us on February 8, 2025, at the age of 87, surround by his loving family.

Born on August 31, 1937, in Sydney, Elmer was the son of the late Elmer and Mary (MacDonald) Ranni.

Elmer lived a full and meaningful life alongside his devoted wife. They loved spending time together, travelling, taking long walks, driving, and ending the evening with their favorite game show.

Elmer is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patricia Bridget (Hawco) Ranni; children, Susan (Glenn) Christie), Kim (Curtis) Kendall, Sandra (Steve) Ranni, and Kelly (Susan) Ranni; grandchildren, Amanda (Brandon), Crystal (Colin), Maryam (Curtis), Tammy, Ashley, Sara (Patrick), Eddie (Danielle), Tyler (Pearl), Dan (Tian), Cole, and Ryan; great-grandchildren, Brooke, Brady, Becka, Noah, Liam, Hannah, Crewe, Tatum, Peyton, Skye, Ella, Layla, Lily, Amelia, and Soraya; sisters, Dolly (Howie), Pat (Don), and brothers, Kenny (Ruth), and Tony (Ellen).

Besides his parents, Elmer was predeceased by sisters, Aggie, Minnow, Mary, and brothers, Richard and Victor.

Visitation and memorial service to celebrate the life of Elmer Ranni will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church St.), Whitney Pier on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 1 to 2 p.m. with the memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. in the All Faith Chapel with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating.

Donations in memory of Elmer may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

“Though he is no longer with us, his memory will live on in the hearts of all that knew him. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered and loved.”

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
