Louisbourg

It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the peaceful passing of Douglas Wayne MacPhee, age 68, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Thursday, February 13, 2025.

Doug was the son of the late Daniel and Jessie (Chipman) MacPhee, of Grand Lake Rd. Besides his parents, Doug was predeceased by two brothers, Martin and Jamie MacPhee; in-laws, Claude and Lillian (White) O’Hara and his beloved dog, Roxy.

Doug is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Wendy Lee (O’Hara) MacPhee; sons, Dougie (Brandi) of Grand Prairie, Alberta, Marty (Keri Ann) of Glace Bay, and Dale (Tabetha) of Dartmouth; brothers, Kenny (Bessie), Steve (Wanda), Allie (Debbie), Dale (Debbie), and special sister-in-law, Alma Corbett. Doug also leaves behind beloved grandchildren, Keelie, Kaleb, Max, Noah, Suri, Xavier, and Gryphon, whom he loved and celebrated dearly.

Doug’s second home was on the road, spending many years delivering freight and furniture. Whether driving in the city or delivering furniture anywhere in North America, Doug was at home behind the wheel. He shared his interests of history and music with his grandchildren when given the opportunity and loved nothing more than smiling, laughing, and carrying on with whomever crossed the threshold. Always willing to give the shirt off his back for those he loved, Dad will be forever missed and continue to be asked for advice.

The family would like to thank Dr. J. Morash, Dr. Abboud, all staff at the An Cala Palliative Care Unit of the CBRH, VON, and City Homemakers staff, your generosity and kindness provided Doug and family comfort in his final days. A very special thank-you to sister-in-law, Mary Lynn Crant for her unwavering dedication during this time.

Gathering of family and friends to celebrate the life of Douglas ‘Doug’ MacPhee will be held at the Pier Community Funeral Home, Whitney Pier, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) from 6-9 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations to be made in Doug’s name to Autism Nova Scotia or Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton County.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
