Albert Bridge

December 22, 1958 – February 4, 2025

It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we, the family of Margaret Ferris, announce her sudden passing. A loving partner, sister, aunt, and friend, Margaret’s passing leaves a deep void in the lives of all who knew her.

Heaven gained a true gem this week. To know Margaret was to love her. Her sense of humour was unmatched, she could turn any moment into laughter, leaving a room full of people in stitches with her quick wit and charm. Margaret had a gift for making everyone feel special, and she had a way of leaving you convinced you were her favourite. She never missed a birthday or holiday, always making sure each of her loved ones received a call filled with love and laughter.

Margaret lived by the golden rule, treating everyone with kindness, respect, and a generosity that knew no bounds. Her warmth radiated to not just family but everyone she met.

Born and raised in the Sydney Shipyard, Margaret was the proud daughter of Ike “the Barber” and Eileen Ferris. She carried their values of hard work and compassion throughout her life. Margaret worked as a PCW at the Spring Garden Villa for many years, pouring her heart into caring for others. Her residents were more than just patients, they were people she cherished, and she made sure they felt valued and deeply cared for.

Leaving behind is her loving life partner, Donnie MacInnis; siblings, Valery MacDonald, Eva Ferris, Shelly (Jerry) Stevens, twin brother George (Elizabeth) Ferris, Leslie (Brian) MacArthur, and Michael (Jill Stapleton) Ferris; in-laws, Byron (Sherry), John (Wanda), and Joslyn MacInnis; step-daughter, Adelia, and grandsons, Colton and Jace.

She was the adored aunt of Mark, Bradley, and Parker MacDonald, Courtney Dunlop, Charles DeMone, Lindsay Reid, Shaun Stevens, John Michael Hanna, Morgan and Ciana Ferris, Moira and Meghan MacArthur, Balin and Bryton Ferris, and Ethan MacGregor.

As a lifelong animal lover, we can’t forget to mention her love and devotion to her pets over the years, including Nova, Scotia, Dolce, Gabbana, Precious, Simba, Kuba, and Roger.

Margaret was predeceased by her loving parents, Ike and Eileen (Leslie) Ferris.

While our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in the countless memories she left behind. Margaret was one of a kind, and though she is gone, she will never be forgotten.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life for the late Margaret Ferris will be held at The Cedars Club at 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2025.

Donations in memory of Margaret may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
