Victoria Mines

The family of Nadine Keller-Wadden regret to announce her sudden passing on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.

Born on October 22, 1976, in Sydney, Nadine was the daughter of Lydia and the late Kevin Keller.

Nadine is survived by her husband, Jeff; daughter, Larissa; son, Chase; brother Kevin Keller (Heather) and mother, Lydia.

Besides her father, Nadine was predeceased by her daughter, Molly.

Nadine was our family rock. Her enormous strength was equally matched by her compassion for others. Nadine’s care for Molly during her sickness is one of her life’s greatest accomplishments, but losing Molly changed her, it changed us, and quite honestly, life became a challenge from that moment on. Molly’s gift to us was Molly’s Mission. It made us better people, more compassionate humans. With Nadine’s drive and dedication, Molly’s Mission has become a life changer for so many.

Nadine was a champion for good causes, deeply passionate about what she did and believed.

She was a devoted volunteer for Caleb’s Courage and Make-A-Wish Foundation, proudly giving her heart and her hands in service to local charities that were important to our family.

Another cause dear to Nadine was the Comfort Closets Program for both schools in Whitney Pier.  When a student was in need of something not available, Nadine would, without hesitation, purchase it and give it to the student.  She also enjoyed volunteering at Harbourside Elementary’s Breakfast Program, helping kids start their day right. She knew all the kids’ names and they knew her. These children routinely approached her to say hello while out in the community. Those moments made me so proud of her.

Nadine also spent 15 plus years employed with CBRM as their only water quality analyst, keeping our water safe.

A devoted mother and wife, some of Nadine’s happiest times were spent being the biggest cheerleader for Larissa, Molly, and Chase’s sporting events.  She loved it when they rolled their eyes, and told her to please stop!   Her peaceful moments were spent with her two dogs, Roxy and Carlos. She loved them dearly. Their world, like ours, is now forever changed.

Nadine’s smile lit up a room. It was contagious. The world is a little darker today without it.

Nadine had an amazing life. As her husband, I feel honored that she took me along for the ride.

There will be no visitation for the late Nadine Keller-Wadden. Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 6, 2025, at 10 a.m. in Holy Redeemer Church, Whitney Pier with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Interment will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery, Victoria Mines at a later date.

Donations in memory of Nadine may be made to Caleb’s Courage and Make-A-Wish Foundation Nova Scotia.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
