Sydney

It’s with a heavy heart that we, the family announce the passing of Alex Campbell, who left this world peacefully on Tuesday, December 31, 2024.

Born on February 19, 1936, in Whitney Pier. Alex was the son of the late Michael and Cecilia (Burke) Campbell.

Alex is survived by his children, Dianne Mercer (Lloyd), Mike Campbell (Sarah), and Jason Campbell (Sherri); grandchildren, Ian, Lisa, Laura, David, James, Aila, Madison, and Mya; great-grandchildren, Callie, Jeremy, Nathan, Oliver, Sophie, and godfather to Bill Burke. Also survived by many other family and friends including special friends, Rita Campbell (mother of his children) and Helen and Sheri Jackson.

Besides his parents, Alex was predeceased by his sister, Loraine Brophy.

Alex was a dedicated and loved milkman. Alex made lasting friendships with colleagues and all that he met along the way.

Alex was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, and he served as Grand Knight in the seventies. He was a great volunteer and never seemed to tire on any committee he was on. Up until recent years, he could be found there enjoying a game of tarbish with fellow Knights.

Alex loved spending time out Mira, his entire life and the fun that came with it. We have very strong and special memories of him out there and will always feel his presence in that beautiful place.

There will be no visitation for the late Alex Campbell. Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at 11 a.m. in Holy Redeemer Church, Whitney Pier with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Interment will be in Old Calvary Cemetery, Whitney Pier.

In leu of flowers, donations in memory of Alex, may be made to Holy Redeemer Cemetery Fund, or charity of one’s choice.
