East Bay
With deep sadness we, the family, announce Arnold’s passing (beloved husband, dear father, grandfather, sibling, brother-in-law, uncle and good friend) on Friday, November 15, 2024, in Palliative Care.
Born in Three Rock Cove, NL on September 6, 1941, Arnold was the oldest son of the late Hugh and Millie Hall.
Arnold is survived by his wife of 57 years, Gertrude; daughter, Tracy (Anthony); son, David (Chrissy); beautiful grandchildren, Norah, Isabella, Taylor, and Taryn; as well as brothers, sisters, in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends, all of whom he was close to over the years (you know who you are).
Arnold was a very gentle, kind person, and everyone loved him. You could always get a good laugh and be entertained by his gift of story telling with a few fibs for good measure.
Arnold loved the outdoors and worked in forestry for his entire life. If not at the woodpile, Arnold could be found playing tarbish (world champ) helping out his friends and neighbors. He loved listening to music (Anything in a Newfie jig and country with George Jones), fishing, darts, cards, beach combing the east bay sandbar and everything with his grandchildren.
The family would like to thank his community, friends and the entire Palliative care team for their support and all the home care workers which allowed Arnold to stay at home longer with his family.
Arnold was dearly loved and will be forever missed. Rest In Peace Papa.
Visitation for the late Arnold Hall will be held at the Pier Community Funeral Home, Whitney Pier, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, November 22, 2024. A celebration of Arnold’s life will be held in the funeral home in the All Faith Chapel on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating.
Donations in memory of Arnold may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.

Arnold would have everyone at his table laughing at his jokes or comical stories . There was never a dull moment when Arnold was around with his sense of humor . He will be missed so much by the people in East Bay . RIP Arnold !! Michael Mac Innis & Donnie ( Hector ) Mac Mullin .
Dear Gertie, Tracy and Anthony, David and Chrissy, beloved grandchildren, whom Arnold was so very proud of and all of Arnold’s siblings and in-laws and families, our hearts are heavy for your loss and the passing of our dear friend Arnold. I first met Arnold at our family canteen, Blarney One, in around 1963 when he and others with him arrived from Newfoundland. Arnold and our Dad both loved to tell jokes and tease each other. There was lots of laughter in those days and Arnold continued to share his jovial, kind spirit and wonderful smile throughout the years. His lighthearted, loving ways blessed the lives of many, many Cape Bretoners and we are so thankful to have grown to know and love Arnold like family. Donnie, Ivan, Sandy and Lennie have been missing their weekly tarabish games and comradery at Donnie’s home since Arnold’s illness grew worse since the spring. Arnold was a bright light in their days and at the Tarabish games in East Bay for many years too.
Gertie and Arnold made a great couple and raised a wonderful daughter and son. Life has changed for them, since Arnold journeyed on to his heavenly home and changed too for so many who knew and loved Arnold. Heaven’s light is sure to glow brighter as Arnold’s kind ways and familiar greeting of “Hello Mrs., how are you today?” echoes throughout the heavenly halls and leaves many great memories with us all here. Thank you Arnold for all your kind deeds and for choosing East Bay as your home with Gertie, Tracy and David. Our community and lives were blessed by your presence Arnold. Until we meet again, may God bless you and your dear family with peace and unending love.
Love, hugs and prayers for you all, Viola and Ivan.
