Sydney

It is with great sadness that the family of Mallory Brooke Gillis announce her sudden passing on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at the age of 19, as a result of a motor vehicle accident.

Mallory was the best friend to her older sister, Cori and younger brother, Kevin (Brooklynn). She was truly the light in her parents, Karen and Dave’s, eyes and all who knew her. Her one true love was her fur baby, Rocket but her spirit will live on in her forever friends, Lauren, Erika, and Cole.

Mallory was a NSCC cosmetology student that loved her new career path and the friends she made. She was due to graduate in June of 2025. Mallory also worked part-time at McDonalds in Sydney River. She will be forever missed by the friends she made in school and at work.

Mallory will live on through her grandmother, Debbie; grandfather, John; aunts and uncles, Isa, Laurie (Donnie), and Brian; cousins, Derek, Kylie, Dylan (Kayla), Austin, Hailey, Brady, and Madison, and many other family members and friends.

Mallory was predeceased by her grandmother, Catherine (King) Roach; aunt, Shauna Gillis; great-grandparents, Betty and Gerald King, Shirely and William Roach, Hugh and Rita Gillis and Stan and Sally Hennick.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the first responders and the bystanders who called in the accident and stayed with Mallory, offering support and comfort until help arrived.

Visitation and memorial service to celebrate the life of Mallory Gillis will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church St.), Whitney Pier on Friday, November 15, 2024. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. with the memorial service to follow at 3 p.m. in the All Faith Chapel with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating. There will be a Celebration of Life from 7 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at the North Side East Bay Fire Hall.

Donations in memory of Mallory may be made to Mothers Against Drunk Driving.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
