Sydney
It is with much sadness that we, the family announce the peaceful passing of our brother, Sandy MacArthur following a massive stroke, on Thursday, April 18, 2024, in Sydney.
Born on November 20, 1945, Sandy lived in Sydney and was a son of the late John and Margaret (Gillis) MacArthur.
Sandy is survived by his children, Sean (Jen), Kim (Shelly) and JR (Chrystal); grandchildren, Gabrielle, Tyler, Caitland, Dillan, Kelsey, Gil, Darby and Caleb; great-granddaughter, Charlotte; brother, Hughie; sisters, Betty Farrell and AnneMarie Barry; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Sandy was predeceased by his brother, Jackie.
Sandy will be fondly remembered for his quick wit and talent to write poetic verse and songs, which were filled with story and humour. He worked many years for Devco, retiring as the Main Control Operator of the Devco Wash Plant. Sandy will be missed by all who knew him.
The family would like to thank Social Worker, Lynn Anne Rossiter, for all her help and dedication, Pier Community Funeral Home, CBRH, EHS and Fr. Conrad Edwards, for their care for Sandy in his time of need.

1988 , a man sat in tims at the Sydney Shopping Center. He said I know you , you worked in Lingan. My name is Sandy and from then til now Sandy and I became attached at the hip. He had a multitude of problems and so did I .
Her was looking for a new start in Sydney. He moved in with me and we commiserated. I was starting over and attending university Sandy was struggling with some issues and from that time till Now, we were always in touch, when I was down he was always making jokes. His humor was dry and sometimes offensive, So what, lol. So is mine and yours. I could go on about his talent writing verses and singing his ballots. He was stubborn when he stood his ground and we argued mostly about this outfit called the trumpet. Enough said. I will miss you old bean, the driver. I want to thank the team from SHIMI, those you do not see who for the past several years provided unheard of support with little resources. watch this little clip, I have more.

Dear AnneMarie and Family,
Sending you prayers during this very sad time.
So sorry for your loss.
Sandy was a good man with quite the sense of humor. You never knew what was going to come out of him. He was very generous and willing to lend a helpful hand to who needed it. I remember one time he helped me walk home with bags of groceries. When I got home t discovered I forgot toilet paper. Shortly after he left our apartment he was back with a 24 package of it. My heart goes out to his family and friends. R.I.P. Sandy
He was a good human being and treated everyone with kindness and respect – good humans go to good places as I understand — Hey Sandy ))) save me a seat ♥️💔
