Louisbourg

It is with great sadness that we, the family announce the sudden passing of Edward ‘Claude’ Coleman on Monday, April 8, 2024, in Sydney.

Born on June 22, 1965, Claude was a son of the late Wesley and Agnes Coleman.

Claude was an avid athlete. He played hockey, baseball but his passion was basketball.  In high school he was known for being top male athlete, leading many winning basketball games, MVP and capturing the Cape Breton High School AA Boys Basketball League scoring title. He scored a total of 280 points in 10 games played.

He worked hard his entire life, started off in the bait shed and then worked his way up to become Captain. Claude had a love for food and was an amazing cook.  He would fill the room with his infectious laugh and bigger than life personality.

Claude married the love of his life, Linda. His proudest moment in life was when he became a father. He always held a special place in his heart for all the children in his family.

Claude is survived and greatly missed by his wife, Linda; daughter, Claudia (Connor); granddaughter, Kaia; siblings, Leta (Eric), Wesley (Donna), Julie, Molly, Lorne, Ada (Bill), Fonia (Timmy), and Lorna; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place and Claude will be reunited with his mother and father who loved him very much.  Above all, keep in touch with those you love and a quote by Claude “Always say I Love You”.

Memorial service to celebrate the life of Claude Coleman will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church St.), Whitney Pier on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating. Private family interment will be held at a late date.
