Louisbourg
It is with great sadness that we, the family announce the sudden passing of Edward ‘Claude’ Coleman on Monday, April 8, 2024, in Sydney.
Born on June 22, 1965, Claude was a son of the late Wesley and Agnes Coleman.
Claude was an avid athlete. He played hockey, baseball but his passion was basketball. In high school he was known for being top male athlete, leading many winning basketball games, MVP and capturing the Cape Breton High School AA Boys Basketball League scoring title. He scored a total of 280 points in 10 games played.
He worked hard his entire life, started off in the bait shed and then worked his way up to become Captain. Claude had a love for food and was an amazing cook. He would fill the room with his infectious laugh and bigger than life personality.
Claude married the love of his life, Linda. His proudest moment in life was when he became a father. He always held a special place in his heart for all the children in his family.
Claude is survived and greatly missed by his wife, Linda; daughter, Claudia (Connor); granddaughter, Kaia; siblings, Leta (Eric), Wesley (Donna), Julie, Molly, Lorne, Ada (Bill), Fonia (Timmy), and Lorna; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place and Claude will be reunited with his mother and father who loved him very much. Above all, keep in touch with those you love and a quote by Claude “Always say I Love You”.
Memorial service to celebrate the life of Claude Coleman will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church St.), Whitney Pier on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating. Private family interment will be held at a late date.

My sympathy, and condolence to the family.
I was never surprised that Claudie was always good at anything he put his mind or hand to. He was just that kind of person. I used to think I smiled a lot but I can’t remember a time when Claudie wasn’t smiling any time we ran into one another. Like all good people, he will be missed.
My condolences to the Coleman family. Rest in peace Claudie!
I always enjoyed having Claude fish with me over the years. He was a great worker and a great person. So sad to hear of his passing. Thinking of all his family.
Our Deepest condolences to The Coleman Family. It’s with great difficulty that I sent this message. Learning of our dear friends passing has hit our Family hard. Claude Loved my Father, Melvin and my Mother Mary like his own. We spent as much time at his mother’s place as he did in ours. He indeed worked hard and always made sure to come by and drop fish off to Mom&Dad. We played Basketball and Hockey together and shared a multitude of wonderful memories together. My entire Family Loved you and will miss your big smile and booming voice. We will cherish our time spent with you. Say hi to Dad for me my Brother.❤️
My deepest condolences to the Coleman family on this tragic loss. A young man gone too soon.
I had the pleasure of coaching/teaching Claude at George D. Lewis. He was a tremendous basketball player and received many awards, both at home and when we travelled throughout Nova Scotia. But more importantly, he was always dedicated to improving his skills – always the first in the gym and the last to leave. As our captain, he led our school’s team to many successes. He gave his teammates and I many great memories. When we meet, his teammates and I will share those memories and stories over and over and remember the role Claude played in all our basketball success.
God bless you all as you work through this difficult time.
We are heartbroken. Claude was like a brother to us. After our father passed away, Claude kept in touch with our mother. He would call her to make sure she was doing ok. Words cannot describe the loss we feel. Forever in our hearts, Myrtle, Gary & Gordie Skinner.
Our Family offers our most Heartfelt condolences to the Coleman Family, friends and relatives. I am having a struggle to type this message as my heart is heavy. My Family has and always will consider Claude as one of our Family
Members. He loved my Father & Mother, Melvin and Mary. He spent as much time in our house as we spent in his parents house from the time we went to school til we all got married and beyond. He always made sure to drop off fish to Mom and he also fished along side Dad. We will all miss his big smile, booming voice and that contagious laugh. We will miss him dearly but he will at remain in our Hearts. We Love you Claude. May God bless you.
