We, the family are saddened to announce the sudden passing of Frederick William Hawryluk Jr. at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney on Monday, November 13, 2023.
Born on September 18, 1958, in Sydney, Fred is the son of Fred Sr. and the late Antonia Hawryluk.
Fred worked for many years as a steel worker at Sydney Steel followed by a brief career at Al Tech environmental.
Fred was known to have a great sense of humor and enjoyed sitting around the table engaging in company and conversation. Fred had a love for music and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.
Fred is survived by his partner, Dorothy Axworthy; son, Darren (MaryAnn); daughter, Chelsea (Cameron); stepson, Francis; his precious grandchildren, Theo, Hunter and Caleb; brothers, Brent (Kathy), and Roland (Wendy); sister, Kendra (Joe), and many nieces and nephews.
Fred was predeceased by his birth mother, Anna and sister, Christina.
Cremation has taken place and to honour Freds wishes, there will be no visitation. Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 20, 2023, at 10 a.m. in Holy Redeemer Church, Whitney Pier with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Private family interment will take place at a later date.
Donations in memory of Fred may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.

Kenda and all Fred’s family and friends , I remember Fred in high school and again at the steel plant . Also remember working at
Mc D with you Kenda. Also Your dad did pickups at all the stores in the pier and points beyond . He was a hard worker as well lots of great memoirs .
