The family of Edgar ‘Eddie’ John MacNeil regret to announce his passing on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born on July 8, 1950, in Sydney, Eddie was the son of the late Reginald Joseph and Elsie (Hillier) MacNeil.
In his younger years, Eddie worked at the steel plant. He was an avid motorcycle rider for over fifty years and loved camping.
Eddie is survived by his partner, Valerie Syms; her son, Erick Syms; brothers, Dave and Bobby; sisters, Darlene, Debbie, Donna and stepsons, David and Jonathon Strickland.
Besides his parents, Eddie was predeceased by sister, Gloria; brother, Reggie and daughter, Tammy MacNeil Fournier.
At Eddie’s request, there will be no visitation or service. Interment will be in Eastmount Cemetery, Whitney Pier.
Donations in memory of Eddie may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.

very sorry to hear of eddie’s passing . I biked with him for long time and we had a lot of laughs and good times over the years . may you bike on bud !!!!
