It is with heavy hearts that we, the family of Michael Petruskavich, announce his passing on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born on January 25, 1932, in Sydney, Michael was the son of the late Leon and Mary (Potribny) Petruskavich.
Michael worked in the rail mill at Sydney Steel for many years until his retirement. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Michael is survived by his children, Leo and Patrick; grandchildren, Ben and Clare; sister, Polly (Dave) Gabereau and brother, Frank (Marie).
Besides his parents, Mike was predeceased by his wife, Mary (Rykunyk) Petruskavich; sister, Stephna LeBlanc; brothers, Peter, Stan, Joe ‘Capo’ (Ashie) and sister, Mary.
There will be no visitation for the late Michael Petruskavich. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Polish Church, Whitney Pier with Fr. Dennis Lamey officiating. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
The family would like to thank Sydney Home Care workers and the staff of Palliative Care Unit 4E for the care given to Michael in his time of need.
Donations in memory of Michael may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.

My brother Mike was a hard working man his whole life. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, bringing home deer, fish, rabbits, making Mama happy because it was free food for the family. God bless you Mike. May you rest in Peace. All our love forever Sister Polly, David and family
