We, the family, regret to announce the passing of our son, father and brother, Edgar ‘Eddy’ James Sheppard Jr. on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney after a brief illness.
Born on September 19, 1969 in Sydney, Eddy was the son of Sharon and stepfather, Donnie Hawco and the late Edgar Sheppard.
Eddy was a welder/fabricator by trade and loved to work with his hands. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Besides his mother and stepfather, Eddy is survived by daughter, Elizabeth; son, Matthew; sisters, Ann (Ronnie) Gillis and Beth (John) McAskill; nieces, Melia Gillis and Amanda McAskill; nephews, Justin and Neil Gillis and Ben McAskill; stepbrother, Donnie (Jennifer) Hawco; stepsister, Charmaine (Robert) Croxen; aunts, Janice (John) MacPherson, Eileen MacDonald and many cousins.
Besides his father. Eddy was predeceased by grandparents, Charlie and Dora Sheppard and Edwin and Ada MacDonald and uncle, Ross MacDonald.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital who looked after Eddy in his time of need.
As per Eddy’s wishes there will be no visitation or service. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will take place in Lakeview Cemetery, Gabarus at a later date.
Donations in memory of Eddy may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.

I would like to send my most deepest condolences to Eddy’s family. I met Eddy at Fabco many years ago and became good friends. We worked several years together and had lots of fun and laughs . RIP my buddy.
