Born on Valentine’s Day in 1925 in Sydney, Bill was the son of the late Elizabeth (Hannam) and Thomas Bennett.
Bill was a proud WWII veteran and a member of Branch 128 of the Royal Canadian Legion in Whitney Pier where he shared a glass with his friends. He loved to hunt and fish, especially with his brothers, along with trips to Tim Hortons with mom. He and mom shared a life together for 61 years and he missed her so much.
Pre-covid, Bill enjoyed many outings with his brother, Tom and good friend, Eddy. He liked country music and Newfoundland tunes.
Besides his parents, Bill was predeceased by his wife, Rachael (MacDonald) in 2018; brothers, Gordon, Allan and Lee; sisters, Mildred ‘Moon’, Mary, Kay and Lillian ‘Doods’.
Papa is survived by his daughter, Judy (Rene); son, Jeff (Carolyn); grandchildren, Dr. Alison Dixon (John Mullane) and Sean Dixon (Colleen Boudreau); “Biggie” Papa to five great-grandchildren, Desmond and Linden Dixon and Roman, Francesca and Anthony Mullane; brother, Tom; as well as many nieces and nephews and will especially be missed by his niece, Colleen.

So sorry to hear about Bill’s passing. My little dog Kiwi and I always enjoyed visiting him at Taigh Na Mara. He was a very passive and sweet man who possessed a great sense of humor.
I also enjoyed our phone chats and talking about his adventures.
God bless one and all.
Sincerely,
Elaine Campbell and kiwi
