With broken hearts we announce the passing of Robert MacDonald at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney on Saturday, January 11, 2020 with his family by his side.
Born on October 3, 1961 in Sydney, Robert was the son of the late Peter and Christine (Wells) MacDonald.
Robert was a loving, caring and kindhearted father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. His greatest love was spending time with his daughters, granddaughter, siblings, family and friends. He was a simple man that cherished all of his life experiences. He was a generous, knowledgeable and compassionate man. He dedicated a lot of time to helping others and always gave his all. He had a great sense of humor and is known for his stories and jokes which was sure to make you laugh. It made his day to make others smile. He loved music, walks, concerts, outdoors and his cats. He was well known in the community and will be missed by all.
Robert leaves behind to mourn, his daughters, Crystal (Lyle) and Sheryl (Kevin); grandchild, Paisley Hardy; the mother of his children, Elizabeth Blackie; brothers, Peter, Halifax and Clyde (Alison), Sydney; sisters, Wanda (Bryden) MacDonald, Sydney River, Denise (Wendell) Dunn, Sydney, and Debbie White, Sydney; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation for the late Robert MacDonald will be held on Friday, January 17, 2020 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Road (entrance on Church Street), Whitney Pier. Funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 11 a.m. in St. Alban’s Anglican Church, Whitney Pier, with the Reverend Canon Brenda Drake officiating. Following the service, everyone is invited to a reception at the Pier Community Funeral Home. Private family interment will take place in Hardwood Hill Cemetery in the spring.
Donations in memory of Robert may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
