Whitney Pier
We, the family of Ross B. MacIsaac are sad to announce his passing on Monday, October 7, 2019 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born on June 3, 1945 and raised in Whitney Pier, Ross was the son of the late Michael and Tena (Small) MacIsaac. He attended Holy Redeemer Boys’ School, Don Bosco Junior High, and Sydney Academy.
Ross began his long working career at Dosco Steel in 1964, followed by 10 years at Imperial Oil in Sarnia, Ontario. He returned to Cape Breton and worked at the Heavy Water Plant (Deuterium of Canada) until it closed. When offered a job at Syncrude in Western Canada, he refused, swearing not to take his family out of Cape Breton. Ross then worked for Nova Scotia Housing until two years ago when ill health forced him to retire. He was a member and a Eucharistic Minister of Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Sydney River.
Ross is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Cathy (MacLean) MacIsaac; daughter, Roseanne and son, Steve, Fort McMurray, Alberta; sister, Maureen (Bill) MacEachern, Dartmouth and brothers, Vernon (Donna) and Michael (Rita), both in the Sydney area. Ross was dearly loved by his nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews who appreciated his great generosity.
Besides his parents, Ross was predeceased by brothers, George and Gregory; as well as aunts and uncles, who were very dear to him.
The family is very grateful to the health professionals at 4C in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their wonderful care and empathy given to Ross during his time of need.
Visitation for the late Ross MacIsaac will be held (Today) Thursday, October 10, 2019 from 5-8 p.m. at the Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street), Whitney Pier.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 11, 2019, at Our Lady of Fatima Church at 11 a.m. with Fr. Patrick O’Neil officiating. Interment will take place in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks, NS.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ross can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
