It is with great sadness that we, the family announce the passing of Greg Aloysius Boone, age 64, on Thursday, September 5, 2019 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born on May 23, 1955 in Sydney, Greg was the son of the late Joseph and Sarah (Edwards) Boone.
Greg is survived by his loving wife, Marlene; daughters, Sara (Justin), Amber (Matt) and three wonderful grandsons Owen, Kaiden, and Jaxon. He is also survived by his sister, Mary (Joe); brothers, Alex (Judy), Bernard (Andrea) and Butler; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Greg was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph, John, Jim, Tony, Fab, and sister, Margaret.
Greg was a proud member of the Bateston Athletic Club. He enjoyed his years at the coast guard and later years at the Fortress of Louisbourg as watchmen. Greg’s jokes will be missed by all!!
Visitation and memorial service to celebrate the life of Greg Boone will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street), Whitney Pier on Tuesday, September 10, 2019. A gathering of family and friends will take place from noon to 2 p.m. with the memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. in the All Faith Chapel with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Private family interment will take place a later date. On Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at 6 p.m. the Bateston Athletic Club in Bateston will be having a farewell celebration for the late Greg Boone for all his family and friends.
Donations in memory of Greg may be made to Heart & Stroke Foundation.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.

Marlene, we were so sorry to hear of Greg’s passing. Kevin and I use to meet him all the time at Sobey’s. He was so cheerful and always made us laugh. Please accept our most sincere condolences to you and your family. Thoughts and prayers are with you all.

May I pass on my condolences I sailed with Greg on a few of CCG ships and we shared the same cabin on one. I have come to know him as a ship mate and a friend. As he will be missed by all I can not say in words how you the family will be at a lost.
