Linda Florence MacRae, of Sydney passed away on Thursday, August 8th, 2019 at Cape Breton Regional Hospital after a brief battle with cancer.
Born in Sydney Mines May 18, 1952, Linda was the daughter of the late Allister and Florence MacRae.
Linda is survived by her loving partner of 24 years, Mark Tushaus; son, Steven; sister, Libby (John) Henderson of Benacadie; brother, Billie (Rose) MacRae of Sydney Mines and her furry friend named Sooky.
Linda was predeceased by sisters, Beverly (James) Gouthro, MaryLee (Louis) Bernard, Miriam (David) LeBlanc; brothers, Donald MacRae and Kenneth (Marcella) MacRae; as well as many nieces and nephews who will miss their sweet Aunt Linda.
An accomplished knitter, Linda gave away many afghans. Her knitted dishcloths were always in demand. Small in stature but big in heart, she took care of many over the years. She spent a great deal of time with Mark’s mother, Rita. She loved playing TV Bingo with her friends, reading novels, her favourite being Nora Roberts. A special thank you to the staff on the 4th floor, and to Dr. Aboud who made her last days as comfortable as possible.
Cremation has taken place, with no visitation or service as per Linda’s request.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
