It is with sadness that we, the family, regret to announce the passing of Allan Norman MacKenzie, age 74, on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by his family.

Born on November 25, 1943 in Port Dover, Ont., Allan was the son of the late Norman and Rachael (Lamond) MacKenzie.

Allan lived most of his in Sydney from a very young age. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting and trapping. Allan was a former employee of Sydney Steel. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Allan is survived by wife, Kathleen (Musgrave) of 50 plus years; children, Angela (Jody) Wall, Allan (Dorothy), Dorothy (Joe) Clarke and Paul; grandchildren, Bryan, Tony, Brittany, Michael, Nathan, Christina and Danielle; great-grandchild, Ruby and brother, Donnie (Maureen).

Visitation for the late Allan Norman MacKenzie will be held on Monday, May 14, 2018 at the Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Funeral service to celebrate the life of Allan will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at 1 p.m. in the All Faith Chapel with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Interment will take place in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.

A special thank you to all those who assisted in Allan’s medical care including local paramedics, Cape Breton Regional Hospital Palliative Care unit, County Homemakers and VON during his time of need.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Allan may be made to charity of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
