Sydney

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother, Julie (Neville) MacDonald, who passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at home in Sydney, surrounded by her children and loved ones. Julie is now resting with her late companion, Neil ‘Biff’ MacNeil, son, Glen MacDonald, parents, Kay and Jim Neville, and brother, Robert.

Born on September 19, 1957 in Sydney, Julie was the daughter of the late Jim and Kay Neville of Whitney Pier.

Julie worked at EDS and Servicom for the last 20 years and enjoyed many of the friendships she made with the staff who many remain close friends until her death.

Julie had two main passions in her life, her children and grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly. She cherished the time spent with all of them up until her final days. She was a lady who had an incredible sense of humor, quick wit and loved to share laughs with family and friends. Julie will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Julie is survived by her children, Kirk, Ryan (Alicia) and Lori (Daryl MacIssac), of Truro, and special friend, ex-husband and father of children, John MacDonald. She will be missed everyday by her grandchildren, Brendon, Lilly, Ben and Parker, and many great grandchildren. Julie is also survived by siblings, Neil (Anne Marie), Mick (Diane), Doll, Kelly (Brian) and Chris (Katey); as well as several nieces and nephews.

Julie was predeceased by her longtime partner, Neil ‘Biff’; father, Jim; mother, Kay; brother, Robert and son, Glen MacDonald.

Memorial service to celebrate the life of Julie (Neville) MacDonald will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Pier Community Funeral Home, All Faith Chapel, Whitney Pier, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street), with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Light refreshments will be served following the service in the reception area. A private family interment will take place at a later date.

The family would like to thank all of Julie's close friends and family for their continuous support and love throughout this difficult time as well as the VON and Palliative care at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

Donations in memory of Julia may be made to charity of your choice.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral home.
