It is with sadness we announce the passing of Kenneth Trent Mayers, 43, on Monday, Mar. 28, 2016 in Edmonton, Alta.
Born in Sydney, Kenny was the son of Margaret Ross and the late James ‘Butch’ Mayers.
Kenny was a hard working family man. His work took him away to provide for his family in Alberta however, his heart was here every day in Cape Breton with his family. He enjoyed cooking and barbecuing with family and friends, fishing, horseshoes, attending Jeremy’s football games and playing superheroes with his son, Trent, who considered his dad his own super hero. Kenny was an avid fan of the Chicago Blackhawks and Chicago Bears. His smile, kind gestures, sense of humour, always joking around and making everyone laugh will be missed by all who knew him.
Kenny is survived by his mother, Margaret Ross and the love of his life, Rhonda Webber and sons, Jeremy and Trent. He will be sadly missed by his brother, Gerald Ross; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.
Besides his father, Kenny was predeceased by his brother, James and grandparents, James and Feodora Ross and Boysie and Eva Mayers.
Visitation for the late Kenneth Trent Mayers will be held on Monday, Apr. 4, 2016 at the Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) from 7-9 p.m. Funeral service to celebrate the life of Kenny will be on Tuesday, Apr. 5, 2016 at 1 p.m. in the Pier Community Funeral Home, All Faith Chapel with Rev. Rosemary Godin officiating. Following the service light refreshments will be served in the funeral home reception area. Interment will take place in Hardwood Hill Cemetery, Sydney.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
God has called you to his place
No more shall we see your smiling face
Take your humour far and wide
For someday Son I’ll be by your side
