71, Whitney Pier
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of our beloved brother, uncle and friend, Michael Candelora on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Sydney, Michael was the son of the late Louis and Evelyn (Hennick) Candelora.
Michael had strong faith and was a member of Holy Redeemer Church. He was a hard dedicated worker and retired from Progressive Wholesale as night shift foreman. He loved his home, especially planting flowers and vegetables during the growing season.
Michael will be remembered by family and friends being very passionate in everything he did and for his generosity for those in need. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Michael is survived by his brothers, Louis Jr., Donald, Robert and Ernie; sisters, Patricia, Mary, Wanda, Joan and Mona (Scott Burt); as well as several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Besides his parents, Michael was predeceased by his sister, Maria and brother, Joseph, both at infancy.
Visitation for the late Michael Candelora will be held at the Pier Community Funeral Home, Whitney Pier, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) on Friday, March 6, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Mar. 7, 2015, at 10 a.m. in Holy Redeemer Church, with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Very sad about the passing of my Uncle Mike, "Mickey". I miss him so much. I have many fond memories of him, I will always remember playing at his house and in the garden, picking blueberries, playing with baby chicks, and spending time in the kitchen with him learning his recipes. Best gnocchi ever! He would always call me "bubba", and I never really liked it but now I am sad that he wont be calling me that again. He had a great knowledge of our family history and he always facinated me with all the details he knew. One of the last times when I was at home I spent the day with him learning about all the history he knew and I am so greatfull to him for that. My daughter's and I spoke with him and my dad on Skype a few weeks ago and I am grateful to have been able to see him then. Uncle Mickey I will miss you so much and I wish I could be there with the family now. To my Dad Ernie and my family, We are sending hugs and prayers to you all from Nadine, Ryan, Lexie and Paige here in Lexington, Kentucky Love Nadine
My deepest condolences to your family. I pray that God give you the peace and comfort you need through this difficult time.
My deepest sympathy to the Candelora Family on their loss. RIP Michael

I was so sorry when I called and to my dismay, the number was disconnected and I just knew! I'm so sorry to hear that Mike passed away last year. I only got to meet him once a few years ago but, knew from that meeting what a wonderful man he was. I love you cousin, Michael and will miss your calls!
