It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Judith ‘Judy’ Ann Brophy on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013, at home.
Born in Sydney on Aug. 18, 1950, Judy was the daughter of the late Vincent and Margaret (Peters) Brophy.
Judy is survived by her sisters, Betty McCormick, Jean Brophy, Patsy (Walter) Twerd; brothers, Frank (Liz), Vince, Bobby (Mabel), Donnie, Tommy and Terry; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Judy was predeceased by her sisters-in-law, Bea and Delores, and brother-in-law, Joseph McCormick.
Judy lived a quiet and simple life. She loved sewing and reading. She loved the company of cats and would enjoy a good laugh. Judy will be remembered by her family and friends for being a caring and loving person.
Funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, at 10 a.m. in Holy Redeemer Church with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Interment will take place in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Judy may be made to the S.P.C.A. of Cape Breton.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
