It is with sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Donald John MacDougall on Friday, July 27, 2012, at home.
Born in Glace Bay, Donald was the son of the late Daniel Archibald and Mary Madeline ‘Minnie’ (MacNeil) MacDougall.
Donald was a hunter, fisherman and trapper. In his earlier days, he worked as a fisherman and woodsman until his retirement. He loved playing cards and bingo. Donald will always be remembered as ‘kind hearted’. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Donald is survived by sons, John Donald, David Allan, James Robert, Daniel William and twin sons, Andrew and Albert; grandchildren, Ian, Jean and Kim and a great-granddaughter, Emily Helen; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Donald was predeceased by his wife, Helen Caroline (Rorison) MacDougall and brothers, Allan MacDougall, Joe MacLean, Leo MacLean and Jim MacLean.
Funeral mass to celebrate the life of Donald John MacDougall will be held on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at 11 a.m. in Stella Maris Church, Inverness with Fr. Duncan MacIsaac officiating. Interment will take place in the Stella Maris Cemetery, Inverness.
Donations in memory of Donald may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
