It is with heavy hearts and great sadness we announce the passing of George ‘Wayne’ Boutilier on Oct. 27, 2011, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Glace Bay, May 15, 1949, Wayne was the son of the late Charles and Susan Donnelly (McWhirter) Boutilier.
Wayne was an employee of Sydney Steel until his retirement. He was a kind and gentle soul who enjoyed the simple things in life.
Wayne will be sadly missed by his wife and best friend, Marilyn Anne; children, Charles Roy Boutilier, Vickie Lee Dean, Crystal Andrea Chettle and Lee Andrea Marie Gerrior; Sisters, Janet, Linda, Vivian, Marilyn, Mary, Debbie and nine grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Wayne was predeceased by brothers, John and Charles Roy Boutilier and a sister, Theresa at infancy.
Visitation for the late George ‘Wayne’ Boutilier will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd., Sydney, on Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service to celebrate the life of George ‘Wayne’ Boutilier will be held Monday, Oct. 31, at 11 a.m. in the Pier Community Funeral Home, All Faith Chapel, with Major Daniel Roode officiating. Light refreshments will be served in the reception area. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
We, the family extend a special thank you to the doctors and staff in the palliative care unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, for your compassion and care for Wayne and the family during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Wayne may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Hospice Palliative Care Society, An Cala unit of Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
