With sadness and fond memories we announce the peaceful passing of Philip John Hannigan on September 22, 2011at home surrounded by his family.
Born on April 3, 1939, Philip was the son of the late Patrick and Mary (Dimock) Hannigan.
Philip was a member of St. Patrick’s Church. He was a devoted mechanic of 48 years at Midway Motors. Philip enjoyed spending his time fishing, gardening, doing puzzles and spending time with his grandchildren. In his earlier years, he found enjoyment in hunting and trapping. Philip will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Philip leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Katherine (Timmons); daughters, Donna (Greg) and Debbie (Brett) Musgrave; sons, John (Peggy) and Philip (Heather); grandchildren, Tara (Allan), Jenny (Kyle) and Taylor Musgrave; and great-grandchildren, Riley and Brooklyn MacKinnon. He is also survived by sister, Helen (Tom) Timmons; brother, Patrick; sisters in-law; Mabel Phillips, Christina Hannigan and Sarah Burton; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Philip was predeceased by a brother, Harry; sister in-law, Margaret and brothers in-law, Arnold and George.
Visitation for the late Philip Hannigan will be held on Sunday, September 25, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in St. Patrick’s Church Hall, North East Margaree. Funeral mass to celebrate the life of Philip Hannigan will be held on Monday, September 26 at 11 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church with Fr. Douglas MacDonald officiating. Interment will take place in the parish cemetery.
Donations in memory of Philip may be made to Palliative Care Society.
