We, the family of Eileen Mary Strickland regretfully announce her passing on March 12, 2009 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Sydney Mines, Eileen was the daughter of the late Harold and Bernadette (Pentecost) Christie.
Eileen was a very loving person to all her friends and for those who came into her home. She was a stay-at-home mom, an avid reader and enjoyed caring for her grandchildren. She loved the outdoors and was a loving and devoted wife.
Eileen is survived by her husband Louis (Ted) Strickland, daughter Lisanne Abbott (Albert Gallant) and son Edward (Teddy). She is also survived by two sisters Theresa (Alex) Wolbaum and Florence MacNeil both in Ontario and a mother-in-law, Mary (Douglas) Strickland. She leaves behind three grandchildren, Joey, Jessica and Brandon.
Besides her parents, Eileen was predeceased by her daughter, April; two brothers, James and Pearson and father-in-law, David Strickland.
Visitation for the late Eileen Strickland will be at the Pier Community Funeral Home on Monday March 16, 2009 from 7 – 9 p.m. Funeral service to celebrate Eileen’s life will be in the Pier Community Funeral Home, All Faith Chapel on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at 11:00 AM with Fr. Errol MacDonald officiating. Internment will take place in Forest Haven, Sydney.
Donations in Eileen’s memory may be made to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation.
